Taboo consists of a small team of two - Katharyn and Beth. We look at the latest and most intense debates and bring you content with both sides of the story, even if it's controversial.

On the site you'll find features about subjects surrounded by stigma and that aren't always talked about openly. We'll be delving into the history of each topic to produce timelines on them as well as discussing them with people in the know and who are directly affected by the issues. If you're looking for objectivity, these are the pieces you'll want to read.

Topical Taboo is our editorial segment, so you'll definitely find more opinion-based pieces there! We still aim to explore both sides of the argument so you can make up your own mind, but the opinions expressed are held by the editor who wrote the piece.

Taboo Talks is our monthly podcast rounding up what we've been writing about, who we've spoken to and what your thoughts are on our topics. So, make sure you send us your thoughts on social media!

Taboo started its journey in 2019 as a student project. Our presence on social media in particular quickly struck a chord - we're pleased to have started debates online and to have sparked interest in our content so early on.

Many of the subjects we cover are highly controversial - for example, flat earth theorists and anti-vaxxers. Though we try to remain impartial, we think getting people talking about issues such as these is crucial.

The response we received resulted in us being awarded a Midlands Media Student Award for social media journalism. The competition was tough, but we're proud Taboo came out on top!
